The 21 can be a bear to mount. It will go better if you rig up the stands on it -- you can probably find the points for them , but a manual will help. Dismount it to stands resting on blocks on stable ground and the remounting will go a lot easier.
The cam you're seeing is called the attaching cam. Apart from its name, I don't find a reference to how to use it. It might be that you can use it with enough chain to bind wrapped around to lift and lower to take some of the ugly off of mounting it.
