The guy probably bought them in 1999 for 100 ea.. Better to be lucky than smart! I remember one time I was traveling from CA to SD to go hunting. Saw a salvage yard off the road in Utah and took a look. Bought a 57 convert frame and not a lot else and went into the office to settle up. On the wall was a pair of the vented Corvette hubcaps, 56-58.Dead perfect. I said "those are nice, how much". Owner says, " I know how much those bring. Have to have 50 dollars each". I said , you are a hard man to deal with, and a smart man, I will give you 40 dollars. He took it. In less than a year I flipped them to an insurance agent friend for $300.
