We recently bought a 48C with an L59 and it mows fine on the lawn but if you get in taller grass you have to go over it twice to make it look good, and it really looks good on the lawn. Must remember it's not a brush cutter! I suspect in taller grass the belt may be slipping on the small sheaves on the arbors, but they must be small to achieve enough blade speed. Last week I cut some slough grass which is very tough and the rain cap just opens farther, along with the governor, engine doesn't seem to be working that hard, We always run it almost wide open to get a nice cut.
