The question has been answered but perhaps this will help to understand the confusion
The problem with understanding charger connections to a positive ground tractor is that we are so used to jumping modern negative ground vehicles where the black negative cable of the charger is often connected to vehicle frame that we assume the black cable is a ground cable.
Understanding battery chargers (and jumper cables) became easy for me to understand when I realized that the output of a battery charger has a NEGATIVE cable (black clamp) and a POSITIVE cable (red clamp), but that the charger DOES NOT have a designated ground cable. The BLACK cable is a NEGATIVE cable, NOT a GROUND cable.
So always connect Positive to Positive, and Negative to Negative, FORGET ABOUT GROUND. When connecting a charger cable to the frame, do not think of the frame as “ground” but rather think of the frame as an “extension cord” for the associated positive or negative post of the battery.
