Although 5 ft mowers are installed on Farmall Cubs, it's not the best setup. Two issues, lack of power and no Live PTO. When you start out, it takes about 15-20 feet before the engine can get its speed up. When you push the clutch in, the mower will continue to drive the transmission. This also makes it a trick for shifting from forward to reverse. For mowing a large area of lawn it can do the job, but not for areas that require a lot of start & stop and forward & reverse. Farmall Cubs are rated at only about 8HP. The later numbered series Cub LoBoys with 15-18Hp and LPTO are great lawn mowers. I have a Farmall Cub with with a 5ft deck as well as 154 & 184 LoBoys with 5 ft decks.
