Dave, Try pulling the choke a bit when it starts to die. If it comes back to life, it's either fuel starvation or a big vacuum leak. Check the manifold thoroughly for holes/cracks and sealing to the carb and head if the fuel supply checks out ok. Phil P.S. The spark plug wires should be solid wire core, not resistance wires as used on cars.
