Remove the tire and measure from the inside of the lips that the bead sits on. You can safely go 1 inch wider than that measurement and the tire will fit ok. The size may be stamped on the inside of the rim, if you are lucky. Ideally the tread width should be the same as the rim width. But a 10-36/11.2-36 on a 9 inch rim will be ok. If you really have an 8 inch rim you need a 9-36/9.5-36. In modern terms 9 inch tires look a little narrow -- I have a C with the old 9-36 tires on it, will probably replace with 11.2-36, but I will need new rims. 12.4's are simply too wide for that tractor unless you are into pulling or something.
