I have never had any luck with those fancy spark testers and I just use the old tried and true way. Pull the center wire from the distributor cap and hold it about a 1/4 inch from some bear metal and crank it over. You should get a spark that is blue/white in color and jump that gap. No jump and yellow you got problems. Points I am just guessing but should be around 0.025 give or take a little bit. Also use the same test at all the plug wires and you should get the same thing at all 4 if you do not then you could have a bad rotor or cap if you have it at the coil wire but not the plug wires. Sorry but to me the best test equipment you can have is your own eyes and knowledge.
