Here's the problem: The front of the engine on back is composed of a timing gear cover, gasket, flat metal plate, gasket, block. The gasket I am asking about is the one between the flat metal plate and block. It is horseshoe shaped, open at the bottom. The shop that is assembling my engine threw away the old gasket, then assembled the front end using a wrong gasket. They still have two gaskets that are identical except one has a large internal circular protrusion on the left side that obviously seals something up against the block. The other gasket looks just like the parts manual picture (261218R3). Which gasket should they use? What is the purpose of the one with the circular protrusion part?
