Heavy oils have dramatically lower octane. My research indicates that premium fuel does bfix the problem R+M method of analysis. Advance must be accurate, cold plugs, and a bit rich. Real time knock sensors would be good to tell the tale. Loose pistons transfer even less heat and melt quicker. one answer is piston cooling jets in the crankcase. Soild oil cooiling works.
