There was indeed a torque spec that was used by the dealer mechanics,at least at the shop I worked in in 73'. I just can't remember it or been able to find it. The head mech there showed me on a head off a M that when torqued at this figure that all the electrodes lined up with the open gap pointed at the intake valve. He claimed that this would help the motor run smoother and more efficient. I thought he was full of BS then but have since read articles in HotRod and other mag's so maybe old Charlie knew what he was talkin about. I have put a Mark on the plugs to index the gaps to point to the intake valve when tight,easier to do with a gasketed plug than these taper seat plug all the new stuff has. My 2 cent's
