The M&W clutch is installed on one of the rear axles when you to de-clutch the axle all the power for the drive gets routed to the de-clutched axle and tractor momentum stops. It doesn't allow you to change gears or anything but you can start and stop the tractor say like if the baler you're pulling loads up and you need to stop feeding it. It may seem like a Rube Goldberg set up but it's actually a similar set up like Allis Chalmers used from the factory. You can't convert an old letter series Farmall to independent PTO unless you change out everything from the flywheel back (Clutch, trans and rear end. If you really need IPTO trade up to a Super MTA (M-torque amplifier) or a number series (240,300,350,340,400,450,560) that already has it.
