It's a matter of personal preference, I think. Silver is the original equipment color on the seat and it was heavy canvas material, not vinyl. But if you would prefer vinyl for water resistance or for whatever other reason you might have, it will make a good cover too. I prefer canvas but you might hear from others who prefer vinyl. Either is better than a bare metal seat.
