Mike that is a part number. The serial number on the engine is stamped either above or below the number one spark plug (closest to radiator). The M holds 8 quarts. Use SAE 30 or SAE 10 if you are in a really cold climate for winter. When you look at the distributor or mag, look slightly to the right and you will see a large 1 1/2 inch wing nut. That is located on the top of the timing cover. Oil goes in there and flows down to the oil pan.
