I just bought myself a 1486, decent tractor, mostly original. I had it out for a ride yesterday and went to downshift the torque. I shifted it quickly liked I've always been told to do. for an instant there was nothing, then a clickety clunk kinda noise (sounded like a 2 speed rear end engaging) then the tractor took off in low torque as normal. I tried it again about 5 minutes later, same thing. The shift happens, its just a bit slow and makes that noise. Once in low t/a, I pressed to brakes to see if it would slip, it did not slip a bit. It was about 15 degrees out that day, so a bit cold, but the tractor had been running for about 10 minutes before I moved it at all.
I'm hoping that the T/A is not checking out. Is there an adjustment that may help get a better downshift? Shifting up seems normal. The hydraulic fluid looks like it has been changed recently.
