They told me 9 hrs labor at $45.00 per hr. That is $405.00 alone. $150.00 for the spray weld and machining back to size (had to be sent out to the one shop in town that does this) $20.00 for machine work on the case (done by an employee in his home shop) and the rest was for misc berings and seals. All the figures add up and I dont think I got the shaft per-say, as I have a "new pump" and he did call me before he sent the shaft out to be welded.Only other options I had were to buy new shaft from IH (almost $400.00, shaft only) or to remove power steering. The seals were so bad that I had to fill the hydrolic tank every 2 hrs of operation, and without machining the shaft it would just tear the seals out again. It was just a little hard to swallow when he called. I do have a tractor fund to work with, and this just drained it, but I guess if you want the "old red iron" to be done right ya gotta pay! (or own a machine shop. Tune in next year for engine rebuild horror stories. At least I can do that myself!!!
