I've forgotten almost everything I ever knew, but reading these posts brings a lot back. When the first 656 with hydrostatic drive came into my grandfather's dealership (I was maybe in early high school) Willis (the manager) and Harold (the main mechanic) and I were all over it. When Harold expressed doubt about the hydro Willis said that they had been using them in the big combines for some time without trouble, and carrying a full grain hopper across a soft field was quite a workout. "Not," Harold said,"like pulling four bottom plows."
