I agree, it certainly is one heck of a clean city for being so big. It's been dirtier, believe me. The loop is probably on of the safest spots down there & the L, Metra & Amtrak are about the only way to get around. The L, to me, is by far the coolest way to get around. I'll never get tired of weaving in & out of buildings & cruising over the packed toll & express ways. The Sears tower packs an awsome view & I hope you were up there on a fairly clear day. Whenever I do get down there, it's usually the end of March - early April & haven't always had the greatest visability. Too many people when it's warm. Nice weather makes Chicago go from winter ghost town to metropolis in no time. Grant Park is where I usually end up when it's summer & it takes forever to walk from the lakefront to any of the hotels on Michigan Ave. Speaking of parks, if you ever make it back there, you should check out Garfield Park. It has a century-old conservatory that features a massive palm room with over 80 different species of palm! There's sooo much to do in that town, I could go on all night. Glad to see I'm not the only country boy that ain't afraid to visit Chi-town.

He got this wild idea that we should get a convoy of AC tractors and drive them from Charlotte, Michigan 105 miles to LaGrange, Indiana.
