Years ago a friend told me about driving his '54 Chevy pickup home from St. Louis. His young wife was pregnant, he'd dropped out of college to get a real job, and everything they owned was in the truck. The Chevy had a cruising speed of 40 MPH, and traffic was backed up behind him plumb over the horizon. They came to a flat spot, and about 15 cars blew out around him, some of them honking angrily as they passed. It lowered their spirits to the bottom as they watched all those cars run off and leave them behind. About a mile down the road, they came to the little village of Rockwood, IL and the state police had a radar trap going, with all of those cars pulled over waiting for the officers to "service" them. The speed limit in Rockwood is 45, and Bob didn't even have to slow down as he motored past.
