i work at a gravel plant, here it is 11.50 a ton, picked up at the plant, gravel price is not a set deal though understand the price a mine owner charges for his gravel is based on numerous costs, equipment, labor to run that equipment, insurance, msha and epa permits, [ a huge cost these days!] also the price of diesel fuel pays a big part, the owner has to add up all his costs, make a small profit, and still be competitive, not easy, for info on the price of diesel, its not the cost of the diesel in the truck that brings you the gravel that your paying for, its the overall cost of fuel to produce the product, when the crusher is running we burn, on average around 800 gallons of diesel a DAY, that cost has to be blended into the all the final products produced at the plant on a percent per ton basis, operating costs varry widely per region of the country as well as the type of mining going on to obtain the raw material to produce the gravel changes the operaters cost to produce
