Normally have coffee at the local Mickey D emporium every morning. They provide a free newspaper, and free coffee with our golden arches cups. Pretty handy, for a bunch of aging cheapskates.
The young ladies who run it occasionally oversleep, especially on weekend mornings, and fail to open on time. We then migrate to a McDonny located within the local Walmart. No free paper there, so I went to buy one. Several people in line at the lone open checkstand, so I just went by the checkstand, showed my newspaper, and put my dollar on the counter.
A few minutes later, I got a personal visit from the store manager. You'd think I held them up with a gun! "You have to go through the check line, so they can scan the bar code." So why, I query, doesn't a big outfit like Walmart have enough clerks on duty so I don't have to stand in line for 10 minutes? "That has nothing to do with it." Well of course it has something to do with it, you moron. "Customer Service"- ever hear of it? You don't have any. I only bought a newspaper from you because I had to. And thank you for reminding me of why I am not a Walmart shopper.
