Mrs. (WA) and I went to Hawaii for our anniversary. Talked to the maintenance superintendant for the condo complex for about half an hour- I think he was starved for conversation with someone who actually knew something about construction, and could "talk farm". He is not a rich guy, but is a former Minnesota farmer who got tired of the cold, turned the farm over to his son, and moved to warmer climes about 15 years ago.
Turns out he also does some caretaker work for the swells who own multi-million $ estates there. One guy, who is a retired Shell Oil executive who lives way off the highway, behind locked gates, had a rock wall built last year. Don't know if you've seen these walls made of lava rock, but they don't appear to have any mortar- just rocks fit together. I suspect they have mortar way back in, out of sight, but have never inspected one close up.
He said it was very strange, looking at the wall. It looked nice, but really served no purpose, and would never be seen by anyone, because it was beyond a locked gate. He estimated the cost at $200,000. At the instruction of his employer, he oversaw construction of it, and paid over the money when instructed to do so.
And that, boys and girls, is how the other half lives.

In our particular hobby, we enjoy the nostalgic return to the days of our youth as we recreate many of the scenes that took place on the family farm that served as the stage for the first few acts of the play that is our live
