Some are lemons for sure but often they show up when owner changes brands. IH to John Deere or vis versa. IH has a reputation of being hard to shift . Guy owned an 806 diesel, thought it was the greatest tractor ever built. He was helping his neighbor pick corn, could not get the John Deere 3020 in gear so walked home. Not a thing wrong with the Deere, he didn't like them. We sold a 706 with the D-310. I recommened it to the customer over the 656 he was dealing with. The 706 used oil, re-rung it, siezed injection pump, repaired pump, siezed the needle bearing in timing idle gear all in first year. Then he ran it for about 6 or 7 years, loved it. It ran to about 8K hrs for next owner before overhaul.
