: Guys, Just got a new 4100 tractor with front loader and : 60" belly mower. Love it! Got one problem; Occasionally : won't start and sometimes dies while operating. Dealer is : going to get to it, but is real busy due to harvesting : season. Facts: 1.) When it won't start, I can jiggle the : wire harness close to the starter and alternator and it : will start. 2.) Last night while finishing my back acre (mowing), I : was using the lights and they all of the sudden went REAL : bright, then the tractor died deader than a door nail. : Jiggled the wires, and it started again. This indicates the : tractor had a HIGH voltage surge to the lights. : What's going on? I've checked ALL wire connections : and found them to all be tight. Any help, recomendations : for debug, etc would be greatly appreciated! : Clay : Don't know the paticular wiring circuit of that model, But you diffintly have a part time open in your source of power to the alternator, when this problem accurs the alternator does not have a source of battery voltage to it and it goes wild not knowing how litle or how much to charge,(in your case to much) So to sum it all up when they find the part time open in the battery source the charging system wil function correctly also. Hope this helps!
