I really wanted to have all these calves caught before the rain started, but I ended the day yesterday with two left on each side of the road.
This morning after an inch of rain, one came up the lane on the north side and I got her shut in the corral. When I started across the road to get the truck and trailer, the other one started up. He stood just outside the gate the whole time I was loading the one in the corral, but as soon as I shut the trailer gate,he walked away.
So I came across the road and unloaded that one and the last two over here were in the barn. I got the gate shut on them and moved them in where they belong. It's an awful mudhole mess out there, but at least the south side's done. I'd have almost preferred to be done on the north side first so I could have unhooked the trailer and put the truck back in the garage, but I'll take what I can get.
