Bout a week ago a couple of geese show up at the place. These are the black and white ones with the red head beaks and head fronts with the rest white; hootus over the end of their beaks. Saw them earler on a farm south of me and now they are here but come and go. Ugliest geese I ever saw in my life.
I have Hackberry trees in the yard and these berries feed a lot of birds in the winter, including NE Bluebirds and Robins.
The geese came to graze the seeds on the ground and other than the dog, in her 40x pen going nuts over them, I enjoyed their casual behavior mannerisms.
Couple of days ago I saw the drake (hard to recognize from the hen) but anyway he was alone. Yesterday same thing. Early on today same thing, but about 2pm she comes from wherever she was and he sees her and there is the biggest commotion and ceremony, hugging and cackling and all......away they went together.
I was thrilled as I thought a coyote or stray dog got her and that was that.
