After 15 years of listening to him every day and knowing how he changed his tune every time the heat was on or the wind changed directions,I'd be inclined to believe that if he did disavow them,it was only because the heat was on.
You have to believe one of two things. Either he really believes in the organization and its causes,or he doesn't investigate anything before he runs his mouth. Would you lend your name and reputation to an organization without finding out who they were? And if he did lend his name to something like this without looking in to it,what else does he spout off about in three hours a day five days a week without looking in to it?
This wasn't something he said off the cuff on the air. There were scripts,appointments,plans. It's not like HSUS was a stealth organization before he made those commercials.
