I live out in the middle of nowhere and my property is surrounded by cow pasture. I put out "tick granules" all over my yard about once a month. That is what I call them, can't think of the official name, but I buy them at Wally world for around $7.00 for a small bag. I also spread them in my dog pens and around my dog pens and I never have to actually spray my dogs, they stay tick and flea free. If you get fleas in the house, turn a night light on, on your lowest socket. Under the night light, put a bowl of water. You might want to add a small amount of dish detergent to the water so the fleas are sure to die and not get back out. At night the fleas are attracted to the night lite and jump toward the light and land in the water. IF you have fleas in the house, you'll be surprised at how well this will catch them. Just make sure the night lite is the only light on in the room.
