I will second what JMS posted. The PS is a wonderful transmission IF it is properly maintained. They can be costly to fix if they have much wrong with them. You really have to watch this on a JD 3020 as the total value of the tractor can be surpassed by the cost to repair the transmission.
You did not state if the tractor was gas or diesel. If it is gas RUN!!!! A JD 3020 gas is a pure headache. They just about NEVER run right on the new gas. Electronic ignitions help some but do not solve all the troubles.
