I have trailer mounted welder powered with what I believe is a jeep military engine. The engine has JEEP cast in the flat head, has side mount distriburator. Welder does not spark. The engine runs very well . Can I repolerize the generator by hooking 12 volt battery to the receptical? I am at a loss as what to do with this machine.E bay seems to not have any section for this thing. Should I try to sell the engine to someone restoring an older military jeep as I do have a military 4x4 transmission from another project? I have been unsuccessful in finding web sites of folks restoring older (1942 to 1960 )jeeps. The welder is like something of a dinosaur as to modern welders. Lots of copper in the thing, however have not found any one wanting old generator for even parts. How is best way to get the thing repolerized or is it even possible? Kinda hate to scrap it for the copper.
