Older gears like a 900 series JD with decent tires and paint no bed just the gear $350 to $900. Newer 1065 JD gear extend tung good tires and paint $800 to $1500. Kill-Bros 10 ton gear decent tires and paint $600 to $1000. JM 10 ton gear good flotation tires and paint extend tung $600 to $1000. Lighter 5 and 6 ton gears 5 lug decent tires and paint JM New Idea IH AC Oliver Massey Case and the rest $250 to $500. I have seen all these bring more and I have seen them dirt cheap, It all depends on the sale and who wants one. I have seen some on CL like a 963 JD rough lookin for $450 and a decent one for $250. I bought a JD 963 2 years ago for $100 so it was a good deal. This time of the year gears tend to bring more money because hay season is coming and people are looking for gears and beds to get them ready to go. Paint tires and condition and brand set the price on running gears.
Some years ago I made good money going to farm sales and consignment sale buying hay wagons and gravity bed wagons cheap that the beds were shot but had good gears under them. Take the wood bed off (pitch in a gully) steel bed with wholes rusted in them went to the junk yard (after being striped for parts) that left the gears to put the best parts together to make the best ones. Take them to sales and double or triple my money on just the gear. Then people caught on, Oh well. Bandit
