Gambles said: (quoted from post at 05:02:38 07/18/15) I had two vehicles stolen from me last December. These were vehicles that needed to be trailered, as they didn't run. I reported the theft to the cops and, by sheer one-in-a-million odds, they were found in February of this year, along with about $75K of other stolen stuff. They were located about an hour and a half away from me on the thief's property. I had to take off work to retrieve them. I had to buy several tanks of gas for the mileage I acrued. I had to pay $150 for the impound fee. I also had to rent a UHaul trailer to get them home.

So when I'm there picking them up at the impound yard, the cop doing all the paperwork tells me to file for the "victim's compensation fund" to get my money back. I did and they tell me that I'm not eligible for it because I live in a different county. The thief is not serving any time and the thief's home county DA is dragging their feet. There were many thousands of dollars of stolen items from my county recovered on the thief's property also, but the DA in my county won't press charges and told me that they MIGHT press charges SOME day, they just will take a wait-and-see stance in the mean time. (Yea, right!)

So anyway, I'd bet money you own't get it back. Try to get over it as quickly as possible.

A judge put a Judgment against my haft bro's drivers licence. He never drove again he would not pay the state the money are did not have $1000 to get them back.

I had a gal write me a bad check a lawyer had a judgment put against her body... The story goes she had to pay up are set in jail till she could come up with the money She found the money to pay me :D

Both of these deals were performed by a retired Lawyer that had noting else to do. I gave him the info and told him he could have it all I got haft of my money.

I guess the moral of the story is everyone has something you can go after...

Today's Featured Article - Gatherin of the Orange - by Rick Nikolich. In July of 1998 I was talking to fellow Allis Chalmers collector Mike Schilling about the annual "Gathering of The Orange" AC show coming up in August of 1999. He got this wild idea that we should get a convoy of AC tractors and drive them from Charlotte, Michigan 105 miles to LaGrange, Indiana. ... [Read Article]
