I've got 2000 ft of underground wire buried for my dogs, and they've never crossed it. My system starts on low then goes up as they get closer. You can also set the perimeter width on the wire as well as the collar strength. One trick is to buy the better wire than what comes in the kit, I went with a wire called "monster wire".
