Yep,I know exactly what you mean. The more crude and "what were they thinking" engineering in them,the more I want to see how they tick. Case and Moline come to mind right off the top of my head. "Let's build tractor then start hanging features on it". I love that. Shoot,on the SC and DC Cases,they forgot to put the front wheels on them when they designed them. LOL Same thing with the cars. Seems like the brands that were built either for economy or luxury only,didn't survive the real good times,or the real bad times. It's fun to look at something that was built for a niche market though.
Fairly often,Dad would end up trading a tractor he bought in Archbold,for something else,then he'd sell that one. Case,Massey Harris,Farmall,International 300 utility,A and B john Deere,Allis Chalmers,8N Fords,just a few that come to mind that rolled in and out of here after short stays. He always kept his Oliver 66 though because of the live power. That one hauled manure and ground feed every winter.
