thats my term for them . Hand held battery testers , they fail way too many batteries, you can hook them up ten times and get ten different results, mostly for the guys doing the oil changes that don't know any better just doing what they are told. I did my own testing of them vs the warranty rated tester that gives the codes for Ford warranty, similar to the GR-8 unit that is in GM dealerships. The warranty rated tester very rarely will fail a good battery , no matter how hard you try .There is a big push to sell people products and services they do not need , one of the reasons I left my last job and started working in a GM shop after almost 30 years of Ford. I won't work in a place that would sell an old lady 500 dollars worth of crap she does not need, that old lady could me my or your mom.
