Well we are mostly Americans. LOL The truth of it is MF is only the top selling tractor if you take the number of units as your yard stick and even then it is with a lot of small tractors sold in Third world countries. Mahindra likes to advertise it is the largest selling tractor in the world. Well they sell lots of small tractors too.
In Row crop areas that use higher horsepower tractors, MF was not even much of a player until the last 15 years or so. The MF 1100 series tractors where far from popular or dependable in this area. The MF of today have little to nothing in common with the MF of years ago. It is SISU motors not the Perkins and sophisticated hydraulics that are nothing like the simple systems used in the MF of yesterday.
AGCO is striving to be a world leading company but I think in the long run they will fail. They are trying to keep too many balls in the air at once. They need to keep their old customers that have the Oliver/White/Allis Chalmers/MM/Cockshutt. So they are stuck trying to supply parts for these multiple lines. That drives the cost up. JD and CIH do not have this problem. So over the long haul the profit margin will be difficult for AGCO to maintain. Once they fall behind there long term future is gone.
