I went to a national chain auto supply store about a week ago and was about to purchase an item that was slightly under $10. AS I HANDED HIM A $10 BILL, the phone rang and the guy behind the counter who was waiting on me had to answer it. Of course, it was somebody calling in for a price check. For a full two minutes he talked to the customer and about every 20 seconds he whispered to me "Just a minute...." I should have walked, but I needed the part that day. The real irony was that there were three other guys behind the counter doing absolutely nothing.
