Just like clockwork the topic of too many OT posts has cropped up right on its every other month schedule. Personally I don't see the problem, I read the subject of posts as I scan through and open the ones that interest me. It just struck me though that maybe the difference is that I am on modern view. I know from way back before modern view that threads got buried quickly, and the tendency is to look only at the first two pages. On modern view I usually look at only the first page because the interesting threads keep getting bumped up to the top. In addition, on modern view you can hit "view your posts" and the threads that you have posted to come up. This is what I do when I first log on so I can view the topics that interest me first. Using modern view makes OT a non-issue.
