IIRC, the local contract around here (Kansas) was $1.13, with contracts closed on September 1st. Around June or July you could still buy it for about $.75/gallon. Speaking of the price of propane (or at least adding to the cost of your propane bill), the suppliers now have a mandatory leak check on your house or sheds, whichever takes the propane. Local supplier charges $75 for this, with a $25 "coupon" to lower the cost. The real irony is that if you are a new customer, they do it for free. Basically, they put a 50 psi test on your lines (with all propane appliances shut off) and see if it holds pressure for X amount of minutes. Some suppliers said it's every 5 years that it's mandatory, some suppliers are saying that it only needs to be done once. Some suppliers said that it's mandatory to change the regulators after so many years, others are claiming that the regulators only need to be changed whenever they fail or have a problem. Is that mandatory nationwide?
