: A friend has an old wagon he is willing to give me ( wants to get it off his place). It has a tie rod type front end like a John Deere. His dad told him it was ordered from Chicago ( maybe Sears ?). Is it a JD sold by someone else or a totally diifferant wagon , if so, what and what color should it be? Thanks ! Here's how you find out if it's a Deere. Look for part numbers. If it's a Deere, it will have little 'JD' marks cast in somewhere nearby. Deere wagons also had 'JD' cast into the dust cap (at least the 953 family of wagons did anyway) I just scrapped what was left of an old David Bradley (Sears) running gear, and it didn't have the steering behind the axle like my 953 John Deeres do.
