If they are flat mating surfaces,like 2 halves of a housing,there is nothing better than anaerobic sealant to use. You need scotch brite buffing discs to remove it,but I have NEVER SEEN IT LEAK.You apply it on the mating surfaces sparingly,1/8" bead.It does not seal until you bolt the halves together-you can go to lunch and come back,and it will still be soft,and ready to seal up.I have been using it since the'80s,and not once had a leak. If,for example,you pull an axle on your 584,it might have a gasket,but case-ih will sell you the locktite 515-anaerobic sealant in place of a gasket. And what squeezes out will be soft and pliable a year later.Where it bolts up tight will be dry and hard,and hard to clean,unless you use a buffer/die grinder with the scotch brite discs.Some people call them oatmeal cookies.I do like silicone,but if the manual calls for it,it is the the thing to use.
