Reminds me of a Red Power Round Up several years ago, it rained so much before the show that trucks had to stay on the roadway. Getting ready to leave I parked along the edge of the road, set out my ramps, and walked the 40 or so yards to get my narrow front Farmall H. When I got back a truck was parked about 8 feet from the ends of my ramps and the driver was standing there laughing at the fact I would have to wait for him to load. I drove in between his truck and the ramps, and just as my right wheel reached the right ramp I jammed the right brake and cut the front wheels hard. The right rear wheel pivoted in place as the front wheels went up the left ramp and reached the trailer just as they got to the inside edge of the ramp, and I then proceeded to drive on up the ramps onto the trailer. When I got off and looked back the smart-aleck driver was staring at me with his mouth open, guess he had never seen that before. I just said, "That ain't my first time on that tractor! and it wasn't, I was raised on that tractor. My Dad had farmed with it for 45 years, and I had been on it since I was big enough to slide off the seat and reach the clutch and brake. If you decide to load one that way at a show, I suggest you practice at home with no audience first, I am still more comfortable using 3 ramps.

Today's Featured Article - Gatherin of the Orange - by Rick Nikolich. In July of 1998 I was talking to fellow Allis Chalmers collector Mike Schilling about the annual "Gathering of The Orange" AC show coming up in August of 1999. He got this wild idea that we should get a convoy of AC tractors and drive them from Charlotte, Michigan 105 miles to LaGrange, Indiana. ... [Read Article]
