Paul is correct , there was a mistake in translation of Chinese to English and what was said yesterday in trade talks. US folks thought they said 5 m tons "per day" and what was really said was 5 m tons "today". In the past China has bought about 250 m beans per year usually in the fall months. They continued those purchases in 2018 except all purchases were all made with South America not US. As far as I know US farmers did not ask for bean subsidy's, it was just put out there by higher ups. As far as benefits to a few growers, There are 2.3 million US farmers and many would be soybean growers. That is not a few people. Have never heard of any slave labor in China. Anyway beans went up 0.13 on the news however small it was. If you go to W Mart you will see thousands of people buying Chinese stuff daily.
