Actually, I find the live hydraulics to be more valuable than live pto. My Ford 3000 has the live hydraulics and the live pto operates by means of a two-stage clutch. If you engage the pto - like on the 8N - it functions as live pto when the clutch is depressed half way. When you depress the clutch the whole way, both the pto and the drive train are disengaged. However regardless what you do with the clutch, the hydraulics work at all times. This is especially helpful when you want to raise a mower for transport with having the blades spinning. Most of the hundred and thousand series tractors produced by Ford after the mid 50's had this as an option.
