Some people are under the impression that these company's exist to provide jobs and serve the people of a given area. Not so they exist to make a profit and if they can do so with no one working they will do so. Nothing wrong with wanting to be profitable but some ethics and honesty goes a long way. In many cases the jobs still exist just at a lower wage and benefit package level. Its all about the cost of business. Agri based business is a prime example of doing away with farm jobs. The larger more efficent farm equipment has done away with thousands of jobs in the last 50 yr's. Fewer employes can be justified in many ways, hard to hire enough, few qualified, can't pass drug tests and I can go on. It is world wide in scope, may not seem fair but it is a result in what many see as progress.
