been thinking some, heres where i am at. 1 front wheels removed of course and use toothed sprockets. put hydraulic disk brakes on this spindle/sprocket assy. rear load support behind original drive axle. simple spring bogey in a rail for track support. Run 3 belts from drive to a controlled tensioner, then over the rear drive sprockets. construct lateral control arms that release the belt tension as you pull back, ending drive at about 1/2 travel, maybe 2-3 in. then set a single master cylinder into the last 2-3 inches of travel. Then you have forward/reverse with the tractor, through the belts, into the drive sprockets, with the system brakes intact for normal use. to steer simple, you can incrementally release some drive tension on preffered track, for gradual moving turn. to make tighter turns, you pull the lateral lever back into the track brake engagement zone, up to severe brake lock. or since weight is desireable on a tracked unit, you could mount a car type clutch outboard of each tractor drive axle
