I do realize that this auction was held 24 years ago but, even 24 years ago those prices would have been much higher for that equipment in Ontario. For many years now , equipment/tractor jockeys have been buying tractors, combines, rock pickers and swathers at farm auctions. Then haul them east on lower cost back haul trips made by equipment haulers taking all manner of used construction equipment west. Fellas rent some yard space, drag equipment in from auctions, and wait for a empty back haul truck to come available. Seems older equipment is worth very little in Saskatchewan and Alberta. One other passing thought, as I watched your video, it reminded me of the many auctions I have attended. Many of the folks at the sale just went because it was a community event, and were well past the age of being working farmers. And of the farmers that went to do business, how many could still be actively farming today? So many of my neighbors that were running farms 20 years ago, found it impossible to continue, not due to age, but there just isn’t enough $$ in it to continue.
