I read once that the Japanese soldiers own training was so brutal and intense that they lost all feeling and emotion. It's easy to believe. I was once in a Marine fighter squadron with a M/Sgt. who was a survivor of the Bataan death march. He had good days and bad days, but NOBODY, including the CO, messed with him.
