We have been lucky and have had someone hay our field (upstate NY) once a year, late, for bedding so I have not had to cut the field to keep it open in a number of years. We have a JD 2040 and a 6' Squealer.
So I have been thinking, if/when I have to cut it again would it speed things up to use some hay equipment, maybe a disc mower or go with a larger bush hog? In either case the grass would be left on the field to decay over the winter. Farming is disappearing up there so I doubt there is much of a market for the hay if this guy quits taking it.
