The bigger shopping town a half hour away has TSC, been there a long time rather small store; and a locally owned farm store, been there a long time.
Mills Fleet Farm moved in a few years ago, huge store.
My town has a Runnings store thats 7 miles from me, it is a regional fleet and farm type store that started 50-60 years ago in Minnesota, west of me a ways, and has quite a few stores in the upper Midwest now. They are really good and I use them a lot. They are not the cheapest, but I cant drive an hour round trip to save $1.69 so Im happy to support Runnings.
TSC was always fun to walk through, as it was different from my usual farm store. They arent what they used to be, I havent been there in over a year.
Mills Fleet Farm used to be very cool when they were 2 hours away, a special awesome trip! Now that they are closer, they too have a very small farm section, the cool army surplus stuff is gone, and its just another store.
The locally owned C&S store is actually pretty cool, they have a lot of hardware stuff. Their farm section too has gotten smaller, but that is the way of things.
So, Im glad of my local Runnings stays pretty stable. They are a good store.
I have been in an O store, and there is what, Baumgartens or some such, and both of those are nice chains, or were, they are different to me and it is fun to see the different tho similar products.
